About Vietnam Boya
Vietnam Boya is a distillation material made from Aquilaria wood grown in Vietnam. Producer Abd Majid Oud describes its product as hydrodistilled from fresh, green Aquilaria crassna wood. It distinguishes the technique and the condition of the raw wood from those used for its conventional Vietnamese agarwood oil.
Scent Profile
Commercial boya materials can have a gentler, creamier woody-leathery character than strongly resinous oud oils, with fruity and animalic facets. Fraterworks describes the material it sells as a waxy extract from uninfected Aquilaria wood, illustrating how texture and raw-material selection can differ between products sold within this family. Boya is therefore a useful material distinction, not a guarantee that every supplier’s oil has exactly the same appearance or aromatic balance.
Use in Perfumery
The softer wood character can round a base or work alongside other oud materials to adjust their weight and texture. Fruity and leathery facets can connect woods with spices, resins and sweeter ingredients in a larger composition. A manufacturer’s description of a particular boya product does not establish the supplier or processing method used in a finished perfume. The term should retain its own provenance rather than being silently replaced by a generic resin-rich oud oil or by a wood from a different botanical genus.
