About Borneo Oud
Borneo Oud is an agarwood note qualified by a geographic name. Oud can derive from resinous wood formed in several Aquilaria and Gyrinops taxa, and CITES documents the difficulty of species identification and trade terminology. “Borneo” does not by itself establish a tree species, wild or cultivated status, grade, provenance chain, or extraction route.
Scent Profile
The note may communicate deep resinous wood, smoke, leather, earth, balsamic warmth, or an animalic edge. Oud varies dramatically, however, and a place label cannot guarantee one odor profile. Depending on the actual material and formula, it may feel sweet and polished, dry and smoky, medicinal, leathery, or intensely dark.
Use in Perfumery
In a limited Crop composition, a Borneo Oud note can act as the long-lasting center around which peppermint, tea, and sandalwood are contrasted. It adds weight and persistence while giving fresher materials a darker frame. For catalog purposes, the geographic wording should be preserved as supplied, but unsupported assumptions about species, legality, harvest method, or chemical composition must be avoided. A note name records an intended olfactory effect; it does not necessarily declare that one raw material appears unchanged in the formula. The exact balance remains formula-specific, and perceived sweetness, greenness, diffusion, and persistence can change with dosage and surrounding materials. Unless the supplier or brand publishes the information, no botanical species, extraction route, chemical structure, or manufacturing process should be inferred from the name.
