About Birch Leaf
Birch leaf is a green note evoking the leaves and younger twigs of birch. It concerns a different part of the tree from woody birch notes or the darker, smoky character of birch tar. Birch Leaf Givco, a blended fragrance material from Givaudan, is one example of a reconstruction developed after studying the aroma of heated birch foliage in a sauna.
Scent Profile
**Greener leaves, herbs and vegetal freshness** form its central impression. Rather than the stronger smoke of charred bark, it can contribute a more supple leafy character with a drier twig-like outline. Flowers gain brighter contours beside it; citrus can emphasise its freshness, while woods add greater depth to the impression of foliage.
Use in Perfumery
The note provides greener freshness for natural woodland themes and herbaceous colognes. Jasmine and marigold can place flowers alongside leaves; vetiver, patchouli, white amber and musk can connect that greenery with a quieter woody foundation. A named leaf note describes an intended smell and does not by itself establish the use of a particular botanical extract or commercial fragrance base.
