About Apricot Kernel
Apricot kernel refers to the seed inside the hard stone of the apricot. The plant, Prunus armeniaca, belongs to the rose family. In a perfume note listing, the kernel therefore identifies a different botanical part from apricot flesh. The expression apricot seed essence retains that same reference to the seed rather than to the juicy fruit alone.
Scent Profile
As a fragrance idea, it brings a rounded, softly sweet accent around flowers. It can soften their edges while keeping the composition bright, rather than making a large, juicy fruit impression. Rose and peony are examples of floral surroundings in which this kind of accent can support a gentle sweetness without dominating the bouquet.
Use in Perfumery
It may connect bright opening notes such as bergamot and pink pepper with the flowers that follow. A perfumery ingredient name does not by itself confirm whether pressing, distillation or reconstruction produced the effect. The aromatic material also should not automatically be identified with a largely odourless cosmetic seed oil.
Did You Know?
Apricot flesh, blossom and seed refer to different parts of the same botanical subject. Kernel and seed are two terms that may appear in ingredient descriptions. Keeping that part of the name visible preserves an important distinction from a general apricot fruit note.
