About Angelica Flower

Angelica (Angelica archangelica) is a robust, upright member of the Apiaceae family that can reach about two metres tall. Its leaves are aromatic, and in early to midsummer it carries rounded umbels, up to 25 cm across, of greenish to pale yellow flowers. It is native to Britain and Ireland, and its range stretches across Europe and Asia.

Scent Profile

In perfumery, the flower impression brings together the herbal feel of an aromatic plant and the airy image of light green blossoms. Think of it as a **green, herbal floral**, closer to fresh foliage than to a sweet, lush bloom.

Use in Perfumery

It fits naturally into green, aromatic, and light floral compositions, where it can give softer flowers a cool, leafy freshness. Where it shows up in the pyramid depends on how the rest of the blend is built, so it is more of a mood than a fixed position.

Did You Know?

Angelica has collected plenty of old common names, including archangel, Holy Ghost, and St Michael's flower. Gardeners also value it as a plant for pollinators such as bees and hoverflies.
