About 422 Frankincense

422 Frankincense is a substitute accord representing the scent reference of frankincense, also known as olibanum. It belongs to the 422 Fragrance approach to material selection and scent reconstruction. It is distinct from natural frankincense essential oil.

Scent Profile

A resinous impression is the central reference. Set against bright lemon and mandarin or the sharper accents of ginger and pepper, a resin-like element gives freshness a deeper background. That relationship is more informative than treating every sensation of the finished perfume as a property of this accord alone.

Use in Perfumery

Base combinations can place it alongside birch and an ambergris-like accord within a marine composition. Resin and wood then provide another texture around the impression of open, cool water. The resulting contrast allows a citrus opening to connect with warmer woody and resinous elements later in the scent.
