SCENT OF YORK. is a project within YORK. that turns moments of everyday pleasure—music, books, food, wind, and plants—into fragrance built from botanical extracts. Perfume is treated as a personal luxury that converses with the wearer's condition that day, not as a costume for a fully defined character.
History
Stylist Yoko Yamafuji, who directs the cross-disciplinary lifestyle project YORK., launched the perfume house in September 2021. Personal memory and daily sensation guide small-scale compositions centered on essential oils of botanical origin. Instead of maximizing a standardized permanent range, the project develops each subject through its materials, available volume, and intended time of use.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Plant oils vary with harvest, origin, and lot. Those differences are not automatically corrected as defects but received like variation between wine vintages. Bitterness, smoke, soil, and sap remain alongside sweetness and beauty, so the scent moves quietly near skin. Botanical sourcing is not converted into a claim of universal therapeutic effect. It offers an experience of attending to variation and choosing what feels appropriate now.
