About Parfum Satori

Parfum Satori does not arrange Japanese plants and traditions as exotic symbols. Season, spatial interval, and the gesture of receiving a guest are built into contemporary perfume at an independent Tokyo house. Satori Osawa develops composition, vessels, and teaching through the continuity of her own atelier.

History

Osawa observed plants from childhood and began Sogetsu-school flower arrangement and Urasenke tea ceremony at twelve, later studying incense ceremony as well. She started learning perfumery in 1988 and studied under Kenji Maruyama, formerly chief perfumer of Firmenich Japan, in 1998. Her own salon opened in 2000 and the collection launched in 2003. In 2019, a perfume and its tea vessel entered the collection of the International Perfume Museum in Grasse.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The relationship between branch and space learned through flower arrangement, and tea ceremony's attention to season and guest, become strength, sequence, and distance from skin. Japanese identity is not produced by using only Japanese materials. Western perfume structure is understood, while humidity and trail are given time. More value is placed on formulas that can continue to be made and on a place where people can learn to describe scent than on a constant volume of new releases.

Iconic Fragrances

  • *Satori* — Incense woods, earth, and florals create the quiet depth of a tea room.
  • *Wabisuke* — A restrained camellia presence is held between greenery, flowers, and woods.
  • *Koke Shimizu* — Moss, water, and cool shade form transparent layers.
