About Maison Incens
Maison Incens is a French fragrance house founded in 2013 by Philippe Constantin. Its stated aim is to create “unlike scents, with a taste of déjà-vu,” with a focus on craftsmanship, originality and quality.
History
Born in Cameroon to a French father and a Moroccan mother, Constantin grew up in Casablanca and moved to France at 18 to study economics and international law, intending to join an international organisation. Meeting perfumer Jean-Claude Gigodot changed that course and sparked his passion for perfume. He later created the house in honour of his father, whose paintings on leather and scented stories became the starting point for its fragrances.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Every collection is set in Artganis, an invented civilisation where people communicate through fragrance and daily life is governed by smell. In this fiction, the ruling family is called Maison Incens, and the Artganians travel the universe collecting the most beautiful perfumes they find. The house treats each scent as part of that story, turning its characters and materials into something wearable.
Iconic Fragrances (or Did You Know?)
The story unfolds in four collections: The Black Opus, The Moroccan Tales, The Divinatory Waters and Les Insensées. Together they move from the Artganians’ native essences to their time in Morocco, the divinatory arts they observed on Earth, and finally the hearts of legendary raw materials.
