About Les Bains Guerbois
Les Bains Guerbois is a Parisian perfume house that tells the story of a single place through scent. Its fragrances draw on a building that has lived as a private bathhouse, a nightclub and a hotel, gathering different memories in each chapter.
History
In 1885 Auguste Guerbois opened a private bathhouse in Paris. The building became the nightclub Les Bains Douches in 1978, and Jean-Pierre Marois gave it another life as the hotel Les Bains Paris in 2015. The following year he asked perfumer Dorothée Piot to create a scent for the hotel. That collaboration introduced him to the exchange between artistic direction and perfumery. The project grew into a Les Bains Guerbois perfume collection.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Marois describes giving a perfumer a memory, a piece of music, a colour or a sensation instead of a fixed recipe. The aim is not to reproduce the smell of the past literally: a moment in the building’s history becomes a starting point that each perfumer can interpret in their own way.
Collections & Fragrances
Une Date, Une Histoire takes its subjects from dates and eras in the venue’s life. Its fragrances include 1885 Bains Sulfureux and 1978 Les Bains Douches. Launched in 2022, Formes & Matières takes a different view of the same place, exploring its architecture, shapes and materials.
