About john masters organics
John masters organics is a beauty brand established by hairstylist John Masters in New York. Centred on hair care, it has expanded into skincare, body care and fragrance, with botanical ingredients and scent forming recurring interests across the range.
History
After working in New York salons, Masters began blending organic essential oils in his home kitchen in 1991. He founded the brand in SoHo in 1994, and it arrived in Japan in 2007. That early interest in plants and essential oils continued through the scents of its care products. In 2025, the brand introduced its first water-based fragrances for skin as part of its holiday collection.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The founder’s approach connects care for oneself with consideration for the planet. The brand selects organic and other plant-derived ingredients while also drawing on contemporary formulation science. Scent and texture are part of that approach to everyday care, inviting attention to personal sensory experience during familiar hair and body routines.
Iconic Fragrances
Purple Flower and Aromatic Woods, introduced in 2025, are 27 mL Aqua Perfumes composed by Luke Malvey. One imagines flowers and greenery in a hidden valley; the other evokes a morning in a cottage. Green Tea followed in 2026, bringing together tea and flowers. All three use alcohol-free, water-based eau de parfum formulas with aromatic materials held in lecithin capsules.
