About Glossier
Glossier redesigned beauty as a conversation in which people describe their own skin, routines, and preferences and products grow from those observations. Skincare, makeup, and scent are moved closer to lived experience than to a finished ideal imposed by an expert.
History
Emily Weiss began the beauty publication Into The Gloss in 2010. Interviews about real routines and discussion among readers formed a community around it. Glossier launched in 2014 with four products developed from that observation. Direct online sales and customer response fed back into development, while the business later expanded through physical stores and retail distribution with Sephora.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The Skin First philosophy begins with an existing face and identity rather than covering perceived flaws to create someone else. Pale color, finger-friendly texture, concise packaging, and intimate language form one experience. Scent similarly avoids imposing a loud external character. Space remains for skin temperature and social distance to alter the result, treating the wearer as an active editor rather than the passive recipient of a finished image.
Iconic Fragrances
- *You* — Pink pepper, iris, ambrette, and musk create a close-wearing composition completed differently by each person's skin.
