About Dior
Dior has developed couture and fragrance in parallel from its earliest years, following Christian Dior's belief that a woman's look was complete only when scent accompanied the clothes. Love of gardens and flowers, architectural silhouette, and a sense of celebration are expressed through both visual and olfactory form.
History
Christian Dior established his house in 1946 and presented its first collection in February 1947. That same year, collaboration with Paul Vacher and others produced the house's first perfume, allowing Dior to describe himself as a *couturier-perfumer*. Later work with Edmond Roudnitska and many other perfumers shaped successive eras. Today, Perfume Creation Director Francis Kurkdjian connects the archive and material heritage with a contemporary point of view.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The childhood garden in Normandy and flowers cultivated at La Colle Noire in southern France are not merely romantic scenery; they inform material choice and the organization of space. Long-term partnerships with growers in Grasse provide knowledge of rose, jasmine, and other flowers from cultivation onward. Floral abundance is then given a legible construction, much like a defined waist or controlled volume in clothing. The house seeks splendor without losing proportion on skin, allowing garden richness and couture discipline to correct each other.
Iconic Fragrances
- *J'adore* — Flowers flow together with a polished, golden luminosity.
- *Sauvage* — Citrus, spice, and amber woods open into wide air and powerful diffusion.
- *Fahrenheit* — Floral, leather, and gasoline-like facets meet in a deliberately audacious contrast.
