About COTONOCA

COTONOCA is a Kyoto fragrance brand produced by Yoshitoyo Co., Ltd. Japanese flowers and the culture of daily life provide subjects for its perfumes, solid perfumes and hand-care products, linking familiar scents with places and personal memories.

History

The label was created in 2017 as an original brand of Yoshitoyo, a Kyoto souvenir retailer, and has reached customers through locations including Kyoto Station and Arashiyama. Its official website was renewed in 2023, and the Yoshitoyo Kyoto Station shop reopened following renovation in 2025. Encounters with fragrance during a trip, and the pleasure of taking that fragrance home, are closely connected with the way the brand presents its work.

Philosophy & Signature Style

COTONOCA draws on scenes such as the faint sweetness associated with a maiko, the atmosphere of shrines and temples, and the aromas of wagashi and matcha in a Kyoto townhouse. It values the connection between scent and memory: returning to a fragrance worn while travelling can bring back details that have begun to fade. Those everyday and remembered scenes offer a starting point for the compositions.

Iconic Fragrances

Kinmokusei no Kaori and Byakudan no Kaori are available as both eau de toilette sprays and solid perfumes. Other subjects include cherry blossom, peach, matcha and ramune, moving between flowers, fruit and familiar flavours. The round solid-perfume tins carry a maiko figure and a different illustration for each scent, offering another way to experience the range alongside the sprays.
