About Comptoir Sud Pacifique

Comptoir Sud Pacifique is a Paris-based perfume house that began in 1974. Its work treats fragrance as a way of travelling to distant places, and vanilla has remained its signature material for more than fifty years.

History

The house grew out of the journeys of a freedom-loving couple who were captivated by the archipelagos of the South Pacific and the scents they found there. They set out to capture those islands in perfume, so that others could experience a faraway voyage. The bottle, modelled on the containers once used to transport aromatic essences, soon became the emblem of the brand. Today Valérie Pianelli, who is Italian and shares that love of travel, carries the spirit of the house forward, looking for new horizons while keeping its taste for discovery and exoticism.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The house describes four pillars: escape, emotion, abundance and sensoriality. Escape here means more than geography, because the sweet, nostalgic notes that shape its signature can also carry the wearer back to childhood memories. Vanilla sits at the centre of that idea and is paired with fruit, coconut, coffee and other materials, across a range running from gourmand compositions, meaning scents that recall food, to marine and floral ones. The fragrances are developed and produced in Grasse.

Iconic Fragrances

The house lists Vanille Extrême, Aloha Tiaré and Amour de Cacao among its essential perfumes, each giving a different ingredient the leading role. Vanille Banane belongs to the same vanilla family and brings ripe banana to the front, followed by vanilla and white rum.
