About Celine

Celine is a Paris couture house long concerned with giving everyday life a precise, restrained silhouette. In fragrance, it revives the idea of the *couturier parfumeur* for the present, treating fashion, music, photography, youth culture, and personal memory as atmosphere that remains lightly on skin.

History

Céline Vipiana and her husband Richard opened a made-to-measure children's shoe boutique in 1945 before the business expanded into womenswear and leather goods. The house had an earlier fragrance chapter in the 1960s, followed by an absence of more than half a century. Under Hedi Slimane's creative direction, perfume returned substantially in 2019 as Haute Parfumerie, with names and scenes drawn from his olfactory journal and presented in dedicated boutiques.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Rather than forcing every composition through one loud signature, powder, woods, iris, leather, and vanilla often appear as translucent layers. An editorial division between day and evening offers a choice of light and shadow, not a rule that confines the wearer by gender or hour. Straight-sided bottles, pale tones, and controlled typography perform the same restraint, acting as quiet vessels for private memory. French high-perfumery technique supports a mood that can be elegant without formality and nostalgic without becoming a historical reconstruction.

Iconic Fragrances

  • *Parade* — Neroli and bergamot are softened with a powdery texture and metropolitan brightness.
  • *Black Tie* — Vanilla, woods, and powder create the intimate trail of evening dress.
