About Caron

Caron composes oppositions—florals and leather, delicacy and excess, feminine and masculine—without smoothing them into one neutral middle. The founding method, in which composition, vessel, store, and clientele were shaped by different talents, remains relevant to the house's contemporary interpretations.

History

Perfumer Ernest Daltroff founded the house in 1904 and met milliner Félicie Wanpouille in 1906. Daltroff developed the scents while Wanpouille directed vessels, image, and the relationship with clients, leaving a substantial mark on early twentieth-century perfume culture. The business survived war and the founders' departure. Since 2018, new ownership and creative direction have reorganized archival formulas, contemporary work, and the boutique experience.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Powder, flowers, smoke, leather, spice, vanilla, and resins are layered at levels that intensify their differences rather than politely thinning them. Naturals and contemporary molecules are not treated as enemies, and historical formulas are not copied without interpretation. Refillable vessels and boutique fountains extend the craft into choosing, measuring, and living with perfume over time.

  • *Tabac Exquis* — Tobacco, cacao, honey, and resins form a deep sweet contrast.
  • *Muguet du Bonheur* — Green lily of the valley and white light convey transparent happiness.
