About Bond No. 9

Bond No. 9 treats New York not as a generic symbol of urban glamour but as a collection of neighborhoods, each with its own people, history, pace, and atmosphere. Its name comes from the founding address at 9 Bond Street, a cast-iron building on the cobbled streets of NoHo.

History

Laurice Rahmé, whose career had moved through beauty and fragrance in France and New York, founded the house in 2003 after the September 11 attacks prompted her to celebrate the city's creativity and resilience. The first collection already centered multiple New York neighborhoods, with Rahmé directing fragrance development, boutiques, and bottle design as parts of one urban portrait. The map later expanded from neighborhoods to parks, streets, beaches, and values shared across the city.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Rather than compressing the city into one “New York” character, the house gives different places their own structures and tensions. Perfume concentrations stated at 18 to 30 percent, star-shaped bottles, saturated color, and graphic surfaces correspond to the city's unapologetic self-expression. The mission joins restoring artistry to commercial perfumery with respect for local identity, allowing wearers to choose the part of the city with which they want a relationship. Bold presentation is therefore not a wrapper placed around the scent; it is another layer of geographic storytelling.

Iconic Fragrances

  • *The Scent of Peace* — Blackcurrant, florals, musk, and woods create a bright opening and a calm trail around a value the city can share.
