@aroma is a Japanese brand working with natural essential oil blends, from fragrances for spaces to perfumes worn on skin. Its speciality is “scenting design”: composing fragrances around the atmosphere of hotels, offices and homes.
History
Its predecessor, Earth Studio, was established in 1998. The company began importing and selling aroma diffusers in 2001 and adopted the At Aroma name in 2008. Its first directly operated store opened in 2013. A Kinmokusei osmanthus roll-on followed in 2023, while the four skin-on fragrance eaux de toilette were introduced in 2025.
Philosophy & Signature Style
The approach draws on the scents of flowers, leaves, woods and fruit, considering where a fragrance will be used and how time will be spent there. Visits to producing regions inform the selection of materials and its relationships with their sources. A series using hinoki and kuromoji from Nagano proposes experiencing a region's nature through scent. Fragrances for diffusers and perfumes for the skin are developed as separate products.
Iconic Fragrances
Morning Dew pictures early-morning dew; Fresh Charge recalls light across grassland. Calming Veil combines flowers and resins, while Luxe Noir takes its inspiration from the city at night. Offered in small 9 mL sprays, these fragrances invite selection according to mood and the setting in which they will be enjoyed.
