About Art Meets Art
Art Meets Art is an independent Paris perfume house that brings niche perfumery and music together, using well-known songs as the starting point for its fragrances. Its perfumes are presented as a "playlist," with each eau de parfum named after the song that inspired it.
History
Founder Tanguy Le Baud came to scent through cooking, which his grandmother taught him, and later through oenology, before working at Lancôme and Kiehl's. He also sings and plays the guitar, and he sees scent and sound as two intuitive languages for emotion and memory. Raised on a Paris houseboat overlooking the Eiffel Tower and Pont Alexandre III, he brings a personal attachment to the city's art, beauty and taste to the project.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Each fragrance is composed by an established outside perfumer, who interprets the mood and associations of a particular song. The house encourages wearers to connect each scent with their own memories of the music, and aims for a playful, relaxed take on luxury perfume. Its fragrances are designed in Paris and made in France.
Iconic Fragrances
Like a Virgin by Alberto Morillas and Like a Virgin Unplugged by Fabrice Pellegrin are two independent readings of the same song by different perfumers. Lilac Wine, composed by Frank Voelkl, takes its cue from Jeff Buckley's interpretation of the song.
